Maple Grove Cemetery

Maple Grove Cemetery is on the south side of Fancher Road across from Fancher Cemetery. It is an active (and historic) cemetery and appears to have been opened for burials about 1900. There are two sections to this cemetery, north and south.

There are quite a few military burials in this cemetery from the Civil War to recent times. Suspected to be missing in the cemetery is the stone of Civil War veteran, Joel Frizzell (but the location is fairly definite). As part of a Boy Scout Eagle project a search was made for Frizzell’s stone in the area near the stone for another Frizzell (where a GAR marker had been placed.) No stone was found so a new one was made for him and placed beside the other Frizzell stone.
